Sirje Papp arbetar med figurativt, klassiskt måleri med samtidsinspirerade motiv. Hon är intresserad av det undermedvetna, minnen och symbolik. Genom att blanda det personliga och symboliska skapar hon en bildvärld som påminner om surrealismen.
Hon fångar med subtil känslighet gränslandet mellan dröm och verklighet. Sirjes måleri gestaltar tidlösa teman kring människans symbios med naturen och de existensiella frågorna kring tid, rum, liv och förgänglighet. Med ett mycket skickligt hantverk fångar Sirje ljuset och färgerna i sina kompositioner och här finns referenser till 1800-talets realistiska måleri och renässansens mästare.
I hennes målningar finner man ofta element som naturen, himmel, hav och vatten men det är ändå hennes fascination av människan, kroppen och våra sinnesstämningar som är det centrala som ger en ordlös berättelse. Det vilar en stillhet i hennes figurer som om de vore fångade i ett fruset ögonblick men under ytan finns där alltid en dramatisk, esoterisk underton.

Sirje Papp works with figurative, classical painting with contemporary-inspired motifs. She is interested in the subconscious, memories and symbolism. By mixing the personal and symbolic, she creates a visual world that is reminiscent of surrealism.
She captures the borderland between dream and reality with subtle sensitivity. Sirje's paintings depict timeless themes about man's symbiosis with nature and the existential questions about time, space, life and transience. With a very skillful craftsmanship, Sirje captures the light and colors in her compositions and here there are references to 19th century realistic painting and the masters of the Renaissance.
In her paintings you often find elements such as nature, sky, sea and water, but it is still her fascination with humans, the body and our moods that is the central thing that gives a wordless story. There is a stillness in her figures as if they were caught in a frozen moment, but beneath the surface there is always a dramatic, esoteric undertone.
